New York, NY
This SoHo loft is home to a productive New York artist and the owner of an influential Miami fashion store. In an effort to maximize light exposure, the communal areas of the apartment are aligned with a series of four large window bays. Massive display walls are utilized throughout to showcase the couple’s substantial art collection and as partitions forming more intimate spaces. These walls are incised with strips of glass, allowing light to flow between the smaller and larger spaces. Vertical surfaces, finished in neutral white, peach, and yellow, float over a refinished dark gray floor. Custom millwork pieces — such as a wall-spanning bookcase of black ash and ten varieties of marble — create graphic interest and moments of color.
