New York, NY
This SoHo loft is the home to a productive New York artist and the owner of an influential Miami fashion store. In an effort to maximize light exposure, communal areas are aligned with a series of four large window bays. Massive display walls are utilized throughout the apartment to showcase the couple’s substantial art collection and partition off more intimate spaces. These walls are incised with horizontal and vertical glass strips, which provide light and air to the rooms beyond. Vertical surfaces, finished in neutral white, peach, and yellow, float on a refinished dark grey floor. Custom millwork pieces, such as a full-wall bookcase of black ash and ten varieties of marble, create graphic interest and moments of color.
