With the Vision Quest line for Gentle Monster, Rafael de Cárdenas has designed contemporary eyewear drawing on his cinematic indulgences. The result is an elegant pair of sunglasses evoking influences from Junior Gaultier and The Hunger to the Miami skyline, and bespeaking an acute attention to detail. Incorporating air and open space as an accent to bold metallic and reflective elements, de Cárdenas creates an interstitial moment which, as with Madonna’s fleeting silver-screen debut in 1985’s Vision Quest, functions as one of clarity and frisson. Available in brushed silver and matte black styles. Vision Quest is available exclusively in the Gentle Monster NYC flagship and online through Saks Fifth Avenue.
