Pop - Up, Temporary Gym
Nike 45 Grand was a temporary multipurpose space housed in a former auto repair shop in lower SoHo. Through the large garage door, a rounded, chapel-like wall of frosted acrylic fins allowed partial views of the largest single space at 45 Grand, the centrally located gym, which was flooded with natural light from a large skylight and from the slotted wall facing the entrance. At the rear of the gym space — the nucleus of the project and the main site of 45 Grand’s unique personalized training program — a tiered stage/seating area was endlessly reflected in surrounding mirror.
The private lounge, up a discreet flight of stairs, was a stark contemporary space that also sampled some of the comforts of a traditional boudoir. A wrapped, tufted lounge offered an opportunity for respite and the perusal of individually curated performance clothing. On the opposite end of the space, apparel was displayed on a long counter lit from above through a funnel-like skylight fixture. Behind the counter, a special one-way mirror flashed with ephemeral images of the products being sampled.
